Overview
HDW Diagnostics ("we", "our", or "us") built the HDW AI Repair Shop app to help you diagnose and fix problems with your home, car, tech, and appliances. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Information We Collect
We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:
- Problem descriptions — the text you enter describing your repair issue. This is sent to our AI service to generate a diagnosis.
- Photos — if you choose to upload a photo, it is sent to our AI service for visual analysis. Photos are not stored on our servers after processing.
- Usage data — we store locally on your device how many free diagnoses you have used. This is never transmitted to our servers.
- Purchase information — subscription purchases are handled entirely by Apple. We do not have access to your payment information.
How We Use Your Information
Information you provide is used solely to:
- Generate AI-powered repair diagnoses and step-by-step guidance
- Improve the accuracy and quality of the service
- Process subscription purchases through Apple's payment system
We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties except as described below.
Third-Party Services
The app uses the following third-party services:
- Anthropic (Claude AI) — your problem descriptions and photos are sent to Anthropic's API to generate diagnoses. Anthropic's privacy policy applies to this data.
- RevenueCat — used to manage subscriptions. RevenueCat may collect device identifiers for subscription management purposes.
- Apple — handles all payment processing for subscriptions.
When you tap links to Amazon, Google, or YouTube, you leave our app and those services' own privacy policies apply.
Data Storage
Your repair history is stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage. We do not have access to your repair history. If you delete the app, this data is permanently deleted.
Children's Privacy
Our app is rated 4+ and is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us.
Your Rights
Since we do not store personal data on our servers, there is nothing to delete or export. Your repair history exists only on your device and can be cleared by deleting the app.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page.
